Audio Stories
Over the past few years, I've worked on podcast series, documentaries and news pieces.
On the Media
Indian historian Romila Thapar wrote in The New York Times, “extreme nationalists require their own particular version of the past to legitimize their actions in the present.” I examined how Hindu nationalists are rewriting Indian history in the world’s largest democracy.
FiveThirtyEight documentaries
In 2016, I co-produced two of the politics podcast's audio documentaries re-examining seemingly make-or-break moments of elections past. The first was on the infamous Dean Scream. Next, we covered the first time Barack Obama publicly grappled with race relations.
On Assignment
I launched and produced the first season of On Assignment, an interview-based podcast from the duPont-Columbia Awards and Columbia Journalism School. These conversations included the producers of Serial, Alex Gibney, Alissa Rubin, and Joshua Oppenheimer.
Caliphate
In the war on terror, who is it that we're really fighting? Caliphate follows Rukmini Callimachi, who covers terrorism for The New York Times, on her quest to understand ISIS. I helped produce the series. Three years after the series published, more questions about the veracity of the main character’s story arose. Ask me about the lessons I am taking from the experience.
The Pitch
I produced the second season of The Pitch, a show where entrepreneurs pitch their startups to investors. I identified and reported diverse stories for the third season and coordinated and produced the first recording session for the podcast with Gimlet Media.
Coming to America and Coming of Age
In this digital magazine and audio piece for The Wilson Quarterly, I delve into the recent surge of young immigrants to the U.S. What happens to a teen from Honduras as he waits for over a year to receive immigration papers?
WNYC Crash Course series
On October 19, 1987, the Dow Jones had its biggest one-day drop in Wall Street history. On the 30th anniversary of the crash, I produced a series looking at the causes of "Black Monday" and what it reveals about the fissures that still plague our financial system.
